Mobile GMaps
MGMaps is an application that can generate directions on how to get from one place to another and you can bookmark locations that you use frequently. The software will use your global positioning system (GPS) to locate your position on the map and can even report your location to a website.
If you don't have a GPS you can search for the suburb or town where you are and then zoom in to find the right spot. You may find this easiest with the combined map and satellite image. The map shows you the street names and the satellite image gives you a sense of the local landmarks. This is particularly useful for a city environment where there is a lot of detail in a small space.
The application is undergoing constant development and new features are being added all the time.

MGMaps is useful for anyone who needs to find their way around a new place or to find their way from one place to another.
WALK THROUGH
You can download the MGMaps software to your PC from
http://www.mgmaps.com/download.php. On the page you will need to select the version you want and the type of phone ("Platform") that you are going to use. If your type of phone isn't listed, you can try the generic version which works on phones with Java. When you have downloaded the software, install it onto your phone from your PC.
To install it onto your phone directly go to the WAP page at
http://wap.mgmaps.com/ where there are links to all the different versions.

The highest resolution you can get out of a satellite image is 30M, although a hybrid satellite/street map gets closer in
The search function is not as good as it could be; a search for London, goes to London UK without offering any other places called London
Can be a little slow to give you the full image
Verdict
This is a useful application if you do any travelling. You can use it to find your way around in a strange city or somewhere new in your home city without having to go and buy a map.
